About the Role: Newry, Mourne and Down District Council is seeking a Gardener - Groundsperson to join their team. This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for grounds and horticultural maintenance, who enjoys working in all weather conditions.
The successful candidate will primarily be involved in the maintenance and repair of grass sports facilities, as well as general grounds maintenance across parks and open spaces in the area. You will be responsible for the upkeep of Council facilities, ensuring they remain safe and welcoming for public use.
Your Duties: - Grounds Maintenance: Maintain and repair grass sports areas and open spaces, including grass cutting, hedge strimming, seeding, planting, and pest control.
- Vehicle and Equipment Management: Operate vehicles and machinery, ensure routine maintenance, and assist with loading/unloading equipment.
- Sports Facility Maintenance: Assist with the construction, erection, and dismantling of sports equipment. Maintain sports areas and artificial surfaces.
- Public Interaction: Patrol parks, issue fees/tickets, and ensure compliance with Council bylaws.
- Horticultural Operations: Undertake horticultural work, such as tree care, planting, pruning, and setting out sports areas.
- Record Keeping: Complete necessary paperwork, including timesheets, work schedules, and driver sheets.
- Health and Safety: Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and Council policies.
Essential Requirements: - Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Valid UK Driving Licence.
Desirable: - PA1-PA6 Spraying Qualification (for those who have it).
Your Benefits: - £13.63 per hour.

Additional Information: - Full time, Temporary, 36 hours per week.
- Working Conditions: The role requires working in all weather conditions.
- Weekend Duty: You may be required to assist with weekend duties as part of the role.
- Location: Based at the Greenbank Depot, with work across the Newry, Mourne, and Down District.
