Job Description: About the opportunity:We are now looking for a Senior Petroleum Engineer for Production Capacity Management, who will be responsible for assisting teams globally across bp-operated assets in identifying and testing opportunities to re-establish, enhance, or increase production. In this role, as the successful candidate, you will also be involved in raising awareness of key vulnerabilities across the four production chokes.
This central role requires a senior petroleum engineer with extensive experience in managing the base as an integrator of the four chokes to enhance production across all bp-operated assets. The position is part of the Base Management and Production Excellence (BMPX) central unit.
In this role, you will have global exposure to managers and leadership teams, providing the opportunity to work across all bp-operated regions. As the Lead for the Review Capacity workflow, you will serve as the primary central resource for regions in finding opportunities to deliver or enhance production.

About the role:In more detail, some of your key job accountabilities will be to:
- Be the owner and driver of the implementation of Capacity Review process globally across bp operated assets and provide support to Joint Ventures in the execution of this kind of reviews.
- Maintain open and direct communication with the Area Production Managers and Area Development Managers in all the bp operated assets to understand the specific needs and expectations from Capacity Reviews. As well as PE DM and BMPX Unit Lead.
- Analyse production, deferrals, vulnerabilities, and opportunities in each asset to advise the individual regional leadership partners on the optimum timing to trigger a production capacity review.
- Maintain direct communication with the Production central leadership team about concerns, potential problems and needs for support in each individual asset.
- Act as integrator between the Production management squads, Facilities support squads, Site teams, DLs, reliability teams, Global Subsurface Solutions, bp solutions, Production Management Units - PSS, digital teams, in the preparation and execution of value adding Capacity Reviews in each individual asset.
- Lead, facilitate and coordinate multidisciplinary technical teams in the planning, preparation and delivery of production capacity reviews.
- Request and obtain dedicated resources as required from several teams such as PMS-FSS-Reliability-PMU-GSS, bp solutions and others, and work in an agile structure to complete planning, preparation and execution of value adding capacity reviews in the shortest time possible (2 months or less).
- Work closely with the Production management and Carbon team to include the identification of potential emission reduction opportunities as one of the key outputs of the Capacity reviews.
- Work in liaison with bp Solutions - Reliability team to identify asset vulnerabilities and potential actions to mitigate them.
- Own, review, update and implement the Review Production Capacity and Manage Production Capacity workflows, as part of the effort to maintain the Production Management Workflows as live and active documents aligned to the needs of Production & Operations.
- Provide subsurface and production technical lead input in the update of global procedures and practices that could be related to Production Management.
- Provide Lead input and recommend improvements in the Production Management digital tool kit, based on the observations and experience while using them during the Capacity Reviews preparations and execution.
- Use and recommend to the Production Management Squad (PMS) and Production Management Unit (PMU) surveillance and monitoring activities based on findings and recommendations from the Capacity reviews.
- Provide a comprehensive view on priorities. What IPC, TPC and/or PTL will make the biggest impact for the lowest effort in line with our strategy.
- Generate and implement with support from the learning team, all required training levels for Capacity Reviews and for Manage and Set Production Capacity.
- Capture and communicate key findings and opportunities from individual capacity reviews.
About you:You will have a Bachelor's degree in engineering or science from an accredited university.
It would be essential that you have:
- Extensive Base Management and Production Operations experience
- Great communication skills and the ability to manage multiple partners at all levels
- Good project management skills and ability to integrate and motivate multiple subject areas to get results to strict deadlines
- Strong collaboration, interpersonal and relationship building skills with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment
It would also be desirable that you have:
- Previous experience working in PMS, PMU
- Previous experience in System Modelling and Optimisation (SMO) and familiarity with production management toolkits (e.g Sherlock, APEX, Vertex,...etc)
- Strong petroleum engineering background
- Discovered Resource Management (DRM) awareness
