Job description:
You will be part of our multidisciplinary product department, consisting of nuclear, mechanical and marine engineering teams that are developing and integrating advanced nuclear technology for marine applications. We work closely with nuclear vendors, co-developing and integrating GenIV reactor technologies such as fast molten salt reactors and heat pipe microreactors.
Key Responsibilities:
Your key responsibilities will be to own the development, testing and validation of reactor kinetics models, shielding and dose models for advanced reactors such as liquid fuelled reactors and heat pipe reactors. The models will be used to inform the development of Gen IV reactor technologies as well as their integration in marine applications.
You will also be responsible for presenting your models and results, both internally and externally, as well as contributing to scientific publications, attending technical conferences and events.
Educational Requirements:
- Master's level degree in Nuclear Engineering or Physics, having taken modules in reactor physics, particle physics and radiation transport.
Required Skills/ Experience:
- At least 3 years of experience working with reactor physics and shielding models.
- Experienced with setting up Monte Carlo simulations for particle transport, data post processing and visualisation, V&V.
- Experienced with presenting results in technical reports and presentations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to present work clearly to a non-nuclear audience.
- Ability to manage information based on strict confidentiality and non-disclosure standards
Technical Competencies:
- Solid knowledge of nuclear physics, reactor kinetics and radiation transport.
- Preferred software and OS experience: OpenMC, MOOSE tools, Python, GitHub, SOLIDWORKS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Windows, Linux
