Provision includes 513 individual parks and green spaces, 20 of which hold Green Flag status, 47 woodland sites, 28 statutory allotments sites, 171 play facilities and 151 sports pitches / playing surfaces and our unique Riding Stables.
About the jobWorking for one of the largest employers in Wales, an exciting opportunity exists for a committed and experienced individual to join a motivated and passionate group of skilled grounds maintenance operatives working within the 513 parks or green spaces Cardiff has to offer.
The successful candidate will be responsible for effectively overseeing grounds maintenance operations, including grass upkeep, vegetation clearance, and the maintenance of floral displays, through the strategic use of resources and expert knowledge.
What We Are Looking For From YouApplicants must hold a qualification in Amenity Horticulture/ Fine Turf related discipline or be able to provide evidence of substantial experience in the grounds maintenance sector.
Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication abilities are crucial for this role. Candidates must exhibit a comprehensive understanding of amenity horticulture, along with practical experience in operating all relevant plant and machinery. Furthermore, proficiency in executing grounds maintenance tasks across various disciplines is required. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team, showing a willingness to assist and support colleagues while maintaining a commitment to achieving the service's objectives.
