Job description Permanent Full Time 37 hours per week An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Devon County Council to assist with the overall management and aftercare of the County Council's 58 closed landfill sites trying to ensure that they cause minimal impact to the local environment . This will include environmental monitoring, site inspections and aftercare as well as supervision of maintenance works. You will also assist in managing a portfolio of waste contracts including but not limited to energy recovery, waste transfer and disposal contracts. With a recycling rate of over 55% we continue to implement our waste strategy and manage waste higher up the waste hierarchy including diverting waste from landfill into recovery.
You will have a degree (or equivalent experience) - ideally in a waste management related subject - but, more importantly, you will be keen to learn about the waste management industry and be committed to our environmental activities. Enthusiastic and driven, you have a proven track record in project management. You are open-minded and business focused, with an organised and analytical approach to your work including data analysis - and you are used to maintaining superb attention to detail while working to tight deadlines. You like working outdoors, sometimes alone, in physically demanding environments whatever the weather! A great team player with excellent IT, data analysis/management and communication skills, you are the perfect person to support our forward thinking team.
In return, as well as a friendly work environment, we will give you support, learning opportunities and training to develop your skills as part of our career progression scheme.
