The successful candidate will be a valued member of a growing ecology team and assist with delivering master planning inputs, ecological appraisals, species surveys and studies. You will provide vital input towards mitigation design and support construction and post-construction supervision and monitoring.
You will have the opportunity to benefit from an exciting and diverse workload, delivering high quality support for private and public-sector clients across the UK including exciting infrastructure and renewable energy projects.
Your core responsibilities will include: - Organising and leading on field surveys and monitoring survey progress
- Undertaking analysis and reviewing ecological data for accuracy and quality
- Contributing to and producing technical reports and management plans
- Organising and supporting in Ecological Clerk of Works roles

About YouWe are in search of a Senior Ecologist who is able to provide a supporting role on a range of diverse and interesting projects. You will enjoy working collaboratively with colleagues across a range of disciplines to deliver project work from initial designs through to implementation on the ground. The ideal candidate will also enjoy taking the opportunity to work on projects more independently and ensure that they progress smoothly across their lifespan.
As a Senior Ecologist we would be looking for someone who can confidently recognise potential ecological constraints and opportunities and communicate this to the wider team. You will also be able to prepare ecological field work and efficiently collect and process data. You will have experience in data analysis and interpretation to inform the direction of project work and to contribute to technical reporting.
This role involves supporting logistical and administrative requirements for project delivery. As part of this you will be able to advise on relevant ecological survey scope and timings as well as requirements to robustly support projects through stages of delivery. This includes arranging habitat and protected species surveys and working with wider team members and clients to develop project strategies.
Senior ecologists will also have the capacity to provide guidance and mentoring to other staff members to promote understanding and raise awareness of ecological issues.
In order to be considered for this role, you must have: - Degree in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field
- Demonstrable experience on a range of projects applying ecological survey techniques with knowledge of relevant guidance and standards for a range of species
- Experience of appraising projects for potential ecological constraints to advise on project strategy
- Experience of contributing to mitigation licence processes relevant to protected species
In order to stand out from the crowd, it is desirable for you to have: - Organisational and communication skills for working with clients and project teams;
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Proficiency in GIS software for habitat mapping
