JOB SUMMARYThe Rudding Park team's core purpose is to create timeless memories and instinctive care in exceptional spaces.
To be responsible for key areas of the gardens and grounds either around the hotel or holiday park, to ensure high standards are met at all times by themselves and team members and to provide a safe working environment for other team members, guests and the general public.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Carry out and oversee work done by self and team members around the Hotel and Holiday Park.
- Ensure a safe working environment for team members, guests and the general
public. - Maintenance and care of hand tools.
- Maintenance and care of machinery used by the gardens team.
- Notifying the head gardener or senior gardener immediately on any maintenance issues.
- Liaising with the head gardener on work plans and future work requirements.
- Ensuring irrigation is working as required.
- Carry out propagation requirements as required.
- Pruning plants at the correct time of year.
- Weeding and tidying beds and borders to a high standard.
- Taking tours around the Kitchen Garden and Gardens when required.
- Ensuring a high level of guest service for guests by self and team members.
- Assisting with induction of new team members as required.
- To promote self-development horticulturally to ensure a high quality of work in the gardens.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties that may be required by the head gardener and directors.
About You- A passion for plants and gardening.
- Good attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills with other team members and guests.
- Able to work independently and in a team.
- Highly motivated with excellent problem-solving skills and a 'can do attitude'.
- Level 2 in Horticulture or other relevant qualification.
- Minimum of 2 years work experience in a similar role.
- Experience and ideally competency certificates with machinery such as hand mowers, ride-on mowers, a range of turf machinery, hedge trimmers, strimmer's, chainsaws, tractors and similar machinery would be an advantage.
- PA1 and PA6 certificates desirable.
- Full, clean driving license essential.
GENERAL- Be responsible for Health and Safety as an individual and also to work colleagues, guestsand the business, reporting concerns through the Health and Safety processes and procedures.
- Ensure continuous professional development of self, including attending required training courses and seeking means of developing within the business
- Promote continuous improvement in the level of quality and guest care provided by the business and make proposals/suggestions where applicable
- Respect colleagues and the working environment at all times.
- Ensure high standard of dress and self-presentation within the working environment
- Undertake any other duties commensurate within the position for which you are qualified.
