Overview of the Role:
We are looking to recruit a Level 1 Horticulturist to join our supportive, friendly, hardworking, and dedicated team at RHS Garden Harlow Carr. This role is based within our Alpine and Streamside team.
The primary focus of the role will be working in the streamside area, maintaining and developing the plantings. Key tasks include: Weeding, deadheading, propagation, Rock work, planting, plant record keeping, Meadow work and general maintenance.
In addition to streamside responsibilities, the role involves collaborating with the wider team in Alpine areas as needed. Flexibility, teamwork, and a positive attitude are essential. Other responsibilities include managing and working alongside learners and volunteers, as well as occasionally supporting other members of the curatorial team in different areas of the garden. While a Level 2 horticultural qualification is preferable, relevant experience will also be considered. A genuine interest in alpine and streamside plants, along with a willingness to learn and contribute, is crucial.
This is a wonderful opportunity to work with and learn from established specialist horticulturists while helping maintain and enhance these unique plant collections.
To work for the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) is to join a thriving charity, whose mission is to be there for everyone on their lifelong adventure with gardening. Everything we do is built on the transformational power of gardening - and the benefits it brings to people, places and our planet.
