The above relate to the consulting service areas, you may also be asked to help with Specialist Loss Adjusting Services (Environmental adjusting services) and/or Environmental Liability - Risk Engineering (Underwriter services and Insurance broker services).
Crawford's clients can be from any sector and any part of the world and while most of the work is based in the UK there will be opportunities that may require travel overseas as the business grows.
Key relationships include those with directors, principals and team members, other company staff, clients and prospective clients. You will report to a senior line manager appropriate to your area of expertise and work.
ResponsibilitiesTypically staff at this grade have strong technical expertise in, for example, environmental risk assessment or carbon reporting and regulatory frameworks along with leading projects, managing junior staff, and acting as a key client contact. Staff are also developing commercial skills, proposal writing, and regulatory negotiations. Duties undertaken will vary according to the contracts and clients that are typical of the service area covered.
The successful candidate will be fundamental to the day-to-day activities of the consulting team and important to delivery of outputs for clients. Crawford takes the view that Consultants should be invested in and will, ideally, progress within the company at a pace determined by their abilities. At this grade you would be expected to be able to undertake all tasks independently and be seeking to hone your knowledge and skills to become an expert in the field.

Essential:
- The Senior Consultant role is suitable for candidates with around three to eight years of relevant full-time work experience to the service areas with a significant responsibility for delivery of projects;
- Bachelor's degree level in a relevant discipline and likely may hold professional and academic qualifications (Level 7), Likely working towards chartership and an affiliate or associate membership of an organisation;
- Excellent all-round IT skills including use of bespoke and proprietary models;
- Strong report writing skills and excellent written English, developed either as part of a degree or practical business experience;
- Excellent data research, collection and analysis skills, including the ability to work with and manipulate datasets;
- Proven organisational skills, working in a calm, logical way to deliver tasks efficiently;
- A methodical and rigorous approach with a high level of attention to detail;
- Ability to apply practical, common sense thinking to real-world problems;
- An understanding of the commercial aspects of the consulting sector;
- Acceptance of needing to work on many different projects at different levels from note taking to presenting on a specific topic area researched;
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with multiple colleagues, peers and external clients; and
- Ability to think creatively and independently and to take initiative to solve problems.
