As a Seasonal Assistant Gardener, you'll be a hands-on member of the garden team, working to deliver the day-to-day care of this established garden and maintain the highest presentation standards. This role will include a range of practical tasks to develop, improve and look after the garden and contribute to the delivery of projects.
Salary: £23,166 per annum
This is our anticipated salary from 1st April but is subject to final confirmation following the Trust's annual pay review proces
Contract:- Fixed Term Contract until 30 November 2025

What it's like to work hereChartwell was the much-loved Churchill family home and the place from which Sir Winston drew inspiration from 1924 until the end of his life. The house and garden remain much the same as when the Churchill family lived at Chartwell and today it is our job to share the stories of their lives here as well as care for this much-loved garden and outdoor spaces.
What you'll be doingDaily responsibilities may include assisting with the planting and maintenance of mixed herbaceous borders, mulching, hedge cutting and lawn mowing. You'll work amongst a team of like-minded, experienced gardeners and a team of dedicated volunteers. You'll talk to the public every day, answering a variety of garden-related questions and talking about what you are doing with pride. We're looking for someone with a practical approach to work and a keen interest in horticulture. The role can sometimes be physically challenging, and we use a wide range of machinery and equipment to help us get our work done. The use of machinery such as hedge trimmers, strimmers, and pedestrian mowers is essential, but training will be provided.
