This is a brilliant opportunity to join a growing discipline, as we build our Land Quality and Geo-Environmental capabilities throughout BakerHicks' offices across the United Kingdom.
We are seeking to expand our Ground Engineering team with the addition of a Senior Geo- Environmental Engineer. You will be required to prepare and input to various stages of Geo-Environmental and Ground Engineering deliverables, supporting the companies growth on all aspects of projects including public, infrastructure, life sciences, nuclear and aviation.
You will have knowledge and understanding of relevant codes of practice, industry standards and have broad understanding of environmental legislation. You will have a through appreciation of the planning process, regulatory authorities, and planning conditions.
You will have a proven track record managing junior staff, providing support, training, and mentorship.
What you will do - Input to and prepare technical deliverables within the Geo-Environmental and Ground Engineering team.
- Undertake technical review and checking on Geo-Environmental deliverables prepared by Graduate and Engineer grade.
- Represent BakerHicks in external project meetings and during site visits as required.
- Review specialist subcontractor's reports for technical compliance with design intent.
- Keep up to date with Geo-Environmental design trends / customer awareness / design techniques.
- Support the development of Geo-Environmental service capabilities across BakerHicks' geographic locations.
About youEducation
- Chartered Membership of an appropriate body (SocEnv, GeolSoc, CIWEM etc)
- Degree qualified in Geology, Environmental Sciences, Applied Geology, Geography and Geology (or equivalent relevant subject). A higher level qualification such as an MSc would be advantageous.
Experience
- Experience within a Geo-Environmental /Engineering Consultancy at Engineer / Senior Engineer level.
- Demonstrable experience preparing technical reports including:
- Phase 1 Geo-Environmental Desk Top Study Reports, including production of Conceptual Site Models;
- Phase 2 Interpretative reporting, including Tier 1 Risk Assessment in relation to both soil and groundwater;
- Classification of sites in line with ground gas risk assessment - BS8485, CIRIA 665.
- Remediation Method Statements.
- Understanding of sampling methods and limitations of investigation techniques.
- Commercial aptitude via management of project budgets and time allowances for report delivery.
- Proven ability to work within a fully integrated, multi-discipline design team.
This role will require a valid driving license and the willingness to travel for short periods, within the UK, to undertake site works.
