Job Description:The Opportunity:Leonardo has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Environmental Engineer whose primary role will be the environmental qualification testing of Electronic Warfare (EW) products, new and legacy at the Luton Site.
The Senior engineer will contribute their knowledge and experience to the Environmental Enginnering Group (EEG), exhibiting an understanding of thermal and dynamic testing, including but not limited to humidity, temperature, altitude, vibration and shock.
The role inherently requires an aptitude for problem solving and managing multiple system requirements across several Leonardo Integrated Project Teams (IPT).
What you will do:Contribute to the environmental engineering group by:
- Being responsible for delivering a single engineering discipline's set of tasks with knowledge of other engineering disciplines requirements and the affects they have on their discipline. To prepare and perform environmental tests against written specifications, instructions and in accordance with the Environmental Engineering Group Procedures in either Dynamic and Climatic Testing or Electromagnetic Testing.
- Working without the need for day-to-day guidance, liaise with and advise other engineers when necessary to ensure testing is performed as efficiently as possible.
- Resolving routine issues within peer group.
- Communicating non-routine issues for resolution by line management and implementing guidance as directed.
- Completing engineering tasks to a satisfactory standard as set out by the work package manager. To maintain an accurate and comprehensive record of each test in order that it may be repeated, if necessary, under the same conditions, using the same test equipment. To prepare accurate and detailed Test Reports when required.
- Being innovative in creating solutions to IPT problems.
- Contributing to IPT decision making at an engineering work package level. To attend meetings to discuss any aspects of proposed testing, test results, test failures, design changes etc.
- Participating in self-development activities to maintain currency in the specific engineering discipline. To acquire and maintain sufficient knowledge of the operation of test facilities to be conversant with as many as possible and to competently perform tests using them.
Contribute to the wider business by:
- Being innovative in creating solutions to business problems, advise the business areas on environmental engineering design and test activities.
What we are looking for:- Higher education approved STEM qualification at first degree level as a minimum or equivalent as recognised by professional accreditation schemes.
- Demonstrated achievement and delivery of tasks within a single engineering discipline.
- Demonstrated knowledge of more than one part of the Product Life Cycle and the associated discipline processes.
- Demonstrated experience in having own work peer reviewed and implementing resulting actions.
- Demonstrated awareness of the risk & oppotunities process associated with engineering activity.
- Knowledge of related engineering disciplines and the level of interaction required within an IPT is desirable.
- Knowledge of systems thinking is desirable.
