We are looking to recruit a QC Technician at our Penistone site to carry out the testing and analysis of a wide range of carbon products and related materials. These include anode materials, friction products, carburisers, and formulated products such as refractory coatings and forging lubricants. This will be an active role, taking samples of raw materials and finished products from the shop floor to ensure they meet the required specifications.

Reporting to the Quality Manager, and working under the daily supervision of other site managers, the successful applicant will be required to undertake the following duties:
Key Responsibilities
• Routine sampling and testing of incoming raw materials and finished products using a wide range of analytical equipment and test methods e.g., particle size analysis, XRD, solids content, density, ash content, viscosity, pH, TGA, BET, SEM/EDX (Full training will be provided)
• Accepting or rejecting materials based on documented specifications and raising non-compliance reports
• Preparation of samples for use in laboratory analysis, R&D or as finished goods samples for customers.
• Working to strict quality protocols using standard laboratory practices and SOPs
• Reporting of work in a timely and accurate manner
• Administrative duties e.g., receiving of deliveries and production data entry
• General maintenance of laboratory areas and equipment
Requirements
• Good computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent organisational skills and a proven ability to prioritise workload and deadlines
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team liaising with various departments
• Good written and verbal communication skills
Advantageous
• Previous quality control experience and familiarity with ISO9001 (Full training will be provided)
• Previous experience of working in a busy industrial laboratory environment, use of laboratory equipment and knowledge of lab etiquette (Full training will be provided)
Working week: Hours: 40 hours a week, 45 minute lunch break each day.
Salary: Dependent on qualifications/experience
Training: Delivery to be completed on site and off the job training either at Barnsley College or your place of work. Student to complete a Laboratory Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship.
